Israel’s war crimes, The Guardian investigation

The Guardian has compiled detailed evidence of alleged war crimes committed by Israel during the 23-day offensive in the Gaza Strip earlier this year, involving the use of Palestinian children as human shields and the targeting of medics and hospitals.

A month-long investigation also obtained evidence of civilians being hit by fire from unmanned drone aircraft said to be so accurate that their operators can tell the colour of the clothes worn by a target.

Human Rights Watch report: Rain of Fire, Israel’s Unlawful Use of White Phosphorus in Gaza

This report documents Israel’s extensive use of white phosphorus munitions during its 22- day military operations in Gaza, from December 27, 2008 to January 18, 2009, named Operation Cast Lead. Based on in-depth investigations in Gaza, the report concludes that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) repeatedly exploded white phosphorus munitions in the air over populated areas, killing and injuring civilians, and damaging civilian structures, including a school, a market, a humanitarian aid warehouse and a hospital.

Amnesty calls for cessation of arms supplies to Israel and Gaza

Both Israel and Hamas used weapons supplied from abroad to carry out
attacks on civilians. This briefing contains fresh evidence on the
munitions used during the three-week conflict in Gaza and southern
Israel and includes information on the supplies of arms to all parties
to the conflict. It explains why Amnesty International is calling for a
cessation of arms supplies to the parties to the conflict and calling
on the United Nations to impose a comprehensive arms embargo.
